Positive, Action-Oriented Leadership in the Mayor's Office

People are excited about electing a mayor with a new perspective, a high bar for city management and city services, and respect for real challenges faced by our households. People are volunteering to make this happen, and so can you.

Geoff Bowie values community input. He prioritizes thoughtful development, supports our schools, public safety, and stewardship of taxpayer funds. These are priorities Geoff has heard from community members and knows that the city government can take meaningful action to improve.

Solve Our City’s Public Safety Crisis

Black Diamond’s Fire and EMS staffing have decreased despite population growth. Our fire service provider, lacking promised developer funding, is ending service by 2028! Ignoring years of warnings, the city built a second fire station that now sits empty. Prior to construction, Geoff was one of the first residents to tell the Mayor and Council that building the now useless Fire Station was the wrong decision. Had they listened to Geoff, our current fire service crisis might have been avoided.

Solve Our City’s Growth Management Crisis

Poor planning and ineffective city management are causing: declining public services; delays in key road and park projects; and capital funding gaps for police, courts, water, and schools. City Hall is shifting developer costs to tax and rate payers.

Solutions require better planning and standing up to special interests,

Schools are another area where the city has let the people down. Current officials have repeatedly chosen to give developers a 50% discount on fees charged to developers toward the cost of schools. This means the taxpayers are asked to pay more to subsidize developers, and the school district does not have millions of additional dollars that could be set aside for new schools.
