Community-Focused Vision and Solutions

Protecting our small-town character through thoughtful planning and community engagement for a brighter future.

Geoff and his supporters' vision includes:

… a safe level of staffing for our fire station to make emergency medical and fire response times faster all over town, so we eliminate the all-too-common experience of a 20-minute wait.

… lots of trees. Better protection for our streams and wildlife habitat corridors. A place where we can still see an elk family in the misty morning.

… high quality uncrowded schools.

… thriving existing Black Diamond businesses. New restaurants and stores, but discourage chain stores from taking business away from locally-owned businesses. It includes a quaint retail center with restaurants, a gym, hair stylist, and government offices and a police station located in or near Ten Trails.

… more parks because we need more large parks as we grow, and more small parks throughout the city. It is important to have community spaces, especially for those special warm days. Protected natural areas and trails we can enjoy year-round.

… a healthy housing market with enough homes with yards and gardens for families. Over-development without services can lead to frustration and lower property values.

Our community vision will require more thoughtful design and care in the pace of new development. We can do more to manage growth so our infrastructure like schools, public safety, and roads can keep up.

Key Goals

Join us in preserving our small town's character and natural surroundings while growing sustainably.

Manage the Fire and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) for Black Diamond so that responses are timely and we have enough personnel to ensure public safety as we grow. Respect and remember the overall costs to households and ensure they are not too much and not subsidizing developer profits.

Revise the city's twenty-year Comprehensive Plan so that it sets up Black Diamond for sustainability, meets legal requirements, coordinates with our neighboring cities, and respects our beautiful natural surroundings.

Hold all developers accountable to meet their requirements and to mitigate the strain that growth puts on our roads, environment, and infrastructure. The city must close loopholes that allow developers to avoid paying their share of infrastructure.
